My Creative Space.

You & I both know that today I should be showing you at the very least one completed doll for Softies for Mirabel. No need to look at your feet & fidget uncomfortably... it's okay. Truth is, I have issues. Crafty issues. Seems I can't actually DO anything once I HAVE to. Once I've told myself (or even worse, someone else) "Right! No more messing around!"; all I want to do is mess around. It's like having a problem with authority but the authority is myself....!

I have been faffing around with those dolls for two weeks now. I really did have good intentions when I posted this - I was rather freaked out by the imminent deadline & thought I'd get at least one girl done sooner rather than later. Or not.

It's because I KNOW that I can still be faffing around today, tomorrow, the weekend... even early into the week, before I really, truly, absolutely no questions about it, HAVE TO finish sewing & hot foot it down to the Post Office with my fingers & toes crossed that the magical express post bag will make it to Mikes in time. It doesn't help either that so many of you lovelies admitted to not even having started your softies yet - sure you have all probably started & finished since my post, & deep down, I know that, but there is still a part of me that smiles smugly & says "See! You're miles ahead! Relax... have another coffee & perhaps a clinker...".

It also doesn't help that I have a massive "To Do" list, or that I have trouble committing to one craft at a time, or that I keep finding "inspiration" to do other things, or that I am forced against my will to go the the beach.... (*coughs* So..... now I am changing the subject, in a very classy & almost seamless transition...)

Footnote; My Internet is s.l.o.w again (*blushes* Seriously folks, I don't know how that happens...) so my humble apologies if I don't make it around about this week, or if I do & my comment relates in no way whatsoever to your photo, because, quite frankly, I'll be guessing!

  1. I'm very good at making grand statements about what I will do too-- but reality and looking at pretty pictures on the net, and quite frankly, staring into space always seem to get in my way...

You'll get there! You just need to block everything else out!

  2. OMG I can so relate to the 'having to do things' thing! I like to post my intentions on my blog as I feel that somehow makes me accountable to someone (my readers!) and I can't bear the thought of having to come back and post that actually, um, I didn't do it...
    Does that motivate you?

  3. Gypsy... obviously not! :P

I wish it did - all it really does is make me feel guilty when I have to post something like this lol.

  6. Never-ending to do lists......it's kind of that time of the year (although it is always like that at our place, just worse at Christmas) and besides you have to savour those summer beach days.

  8. oh man, it is quite hilarious the irony between our two posts. (mind you - i still have to do the mix CD cause I have till like tomorrow!)
i put my deadline-pushing abilities down to being a journo!
but i might not get much done either if i wasn't almost five hours from the nearest beach!

Arghh *cue me running around the kitchen with a bucket on my head*. ps. I don't mean to be a tease..did someone just mutter "Paris Part III ????"

  19. You know what Vic. I'm guessing that all this faffing is happenign because history tells you that despite leaving it till the last minute, it will get done. So embrace the faff and plan nothing for the night before!

Oh, and if I was there and clinkering with you, I say mine was... hhmmmm... pink.

PS - That MCS in the sand photo... BRILLIANT!

  22. As soon as I have a deadline or a "have to do" project, a lot of the enjoyment immediately vanishes. It is not that it isn't for a good cause or isn't a fun project but the pressure, oh, the pressure!...Hopefully your creative space has given you a renewed energy. Well, that and an excess of coffee...
