…or, more accurately, this morning, I stayed up pretty late drawing & painting the final ‘bots for Bubba#2’s room. I picked up a few $1 frames at Le Oppy the other day too so if I can find some hooks or nails they’ll even get put up today. Maybe.
I love it, LOVE IT, when I get into ‘the zone’. When I can’t do anything else except focus on what I’m doing, & I can’t rest until it’s done. It happened when I made the storybook drawers for Miss Punk, or more recently when sewing up her reversible pinnie, but as much as I love it, it doesn’t happen all that often. Most of the time when I finally manage to convince myself that ‘now is the time!’ to make, draw or create I am so preoccupied with other things I should be doing, or things happening around me that the zone remains sadly unobtainable.
I think that if I could get into the elusive zone more easily I would be encouraged to create so much more, both in volume & time commitment, but when it happens it seems to be more by accident than active choice.
Do you reside in ‘the zone’ when you create? Is it easy or hard for you to get there?
(For more creative spaces, or 'zones' perhaps, Kirsty is back - woohoo!)
Oh these are fantastic...You have quite the talent!! I'd say I am similar to you with the whole "zone" thing. I take it when I can get it :)
ReplyDeleteOne word....
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!!!!
What a lucky little boy.
WOW! ...when you get in the zone you make amazing things! They are fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteahh, the elusive zone... I only seem to find it by accident too... love your artworks!
ReplyDeleteThose 'bots are so lifelike. I know what you mean about the zone too. I definitely can't get there if I am being forced to do something and it slips awayif my DD 'needs' me to do something for her. Any stress and it is gone yet it is also the releaser from stress. Catch 22? Cherrie
ReplyDeleteYou are one cool mama! Love those drawers too.
ReplyDeletefantastic! that bloomin zone -- I so agree with you - but if we were in the zone all the time we'd just implode!
ReplyDeleteWow! You are super talented!Ahh the zone! If only its excitement and inspiration could be bottled! :)
ReplyDeleteThese robots are fantastic. You have a lot of talent with the paint brush! Yes, I love to be in the zone. The wee hours in the morning when the house is quiet and I get lost in my work is fabulous. I find it very therapeutic, possibly meditative! Although the one downside is feeling rather tired the next morning when the kids are all bright and chirpy and ready to roll.
ReplyDeleteOh they are TDF - well done and congrats for finding your zone. I am like you - when I get the urge and find the time it is all systems go - have to remind myself to stop and cook dinner:)
ReplyDeleteVic, these are fantastic! I love the colours and can't wait {hint hint} to see them up in the little one's room! Great job.
ReplyDeleteoh cool! They are going to look fabulous- lucky little bubba2!
ReplyDeleteYeah, 'in the zone'...haven't been there for a while ;)
These are amazing! I am so jealous of your skills!
ReplyDeleteVIC!!! I had no idea you could draw like this!!! they are so brilliant! I love them!
ReplyDeleteGasp! Babe, I knew that you were talented but wowsers- adore those robots! Ah, the zone- all or nothing for me. But then I tend to be obsessive/compulsive so that's no surprise.
ReplyDeleteOh those robots are so brilliant, Vic! You should absolutely find that zone more often. x
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing drawer Vic. Your little man going love these. xo
ReplyDeleteWow your zone is super creative, those bots are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWowee they're so cool! I wouldn't mind a cool bot for my wall.
ReplyDeleteThere's definitely a zone for being creative. I can make prduction line things without thinking, but there needs to be space and time to create something new.
Fantastic x
ReplyDeleteFantastic, you can pop over here to Oman and decorate my room if you like!
ReplyDeletethey're fanTASTic! not-Arnold's room will be enviable :)
ReplyDeleteGreat bots Vic! And yes, when in the zone it can easily be 2am before I think maybe I'd better plan to finish up... why oh why is it always a middle-of-the-night thing??!!!
ReplyDeletewow, great drawings!
ReplyDeleteOh Vic, they are so gorgeous I can't tell you! What a lucky little bub!
ReplyDeleteHi Vic!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all - those drawings are gorgeous. I love the colour shades, and how you used lighter and darker colours for the light effects! The one I like best is the one in the front, on the first photo. You should give him a name. He looks like a big cuddly teddybear (well... a robo teddybear, but kinda... cuddly... erm... okay.)!
I'm sure you, ehm, bubba #2 will enjoy being in his room :).
Regarding your question, I have to say that I am ambitiously working on getting into a creative rhythm, which means that I have to kinda force myself to do something... at least a little thing... every day. It's so hard for me to stay motivated! Mostly, when I'm in a creative mood, I'm in a total rush, but when it comes to creating stuff on a regular (like... daily?!) basis, I suck. I know what it means to stay up late, finishing a project ;).
Wow those are FANTASTIC!
