My Creative Space

Another day, another meme! Only today I am QUITE late in joining in, I have a good excuse though, really I do... I was busy, well, creating!

And here she is (I do indeed feel like Dr Frankenstein...), Elvira!!

I figured if I was going to do the Wardrobe Refashion thing right, it would be made a whole lot easier by having a dressmakers model of moi. I considered putting my $100 winnings towards an actual, fancy-pants, proper dummy - but a) I'm cheap & b) That's not very crafty.

So I donned a garbage bag & wrapped myself in cloth tape - ah - what a way to spend a Wednesday night! My darling boy was roped in to help eventually & many laughs were had, I was crying with laughter actually...!

I think she turned out great - and making her was so much more fun than clicking "Add To Cart"! She's much more sassy & daring than I, but that's okay, I think we'll get along just fine.

Thanks Kirsty for having us all over again this week!

  1. I absolurely LOVE Elvira - she's brilliant. She'll be the perfect replica for doing fittings. Much better than a mass produced dummy!

  13. Just you make sure that you whip Elvira into shape if she gives you any attitude. Excellent idea.

  15. Elvira rocks! Love the carefully placed stars :)

Good on you for making one of these...I've thought about it but wasn't sure exactly what to do (or am just a bit scared) as my Maude is a gift from forever ago, and just not quite my size. She's only useful for hanging finished things over!

  16. Thanks all for your nice comments about Vi (As she had come to be nicknamed already...).

I only realised after I had posted the pics that I was esentially putting up pics of myself without layers & layers of protective clothing to hide behind...! I got over that though because I don't really see her as a copy of me - because she is so... well... different looking!

Kat - might draw up a tute later - can't promise any great detail though lol - that would require, well, remembering...

beck - I have ONE photo... if you're good I might share it. ;)

Tracey - since Le Punk saw the whole process she is unfazed by Vi - plus she's kind of in the corner & not on Punk's level so she doesn't even notice it.

Miss Muggins - Sounds... interesting...! ;)
