Let there be fanfare & dancing in the streets, my second-hand meme has come home.
If you’re new around these parts you might not know about the meme I inherited from Pip at Meet Me at Mikes or about how I gave it away then wanted it back, then changed my mind, then wanted it back again but it had moved on… a lost little meme in a big bad bloggy world… but now it is home & wrapped up in an opped granny blanket, sipping on a nice cup of tea, getting ready to splash water on it’s face & set off to visit some familiar blogs & some new ones too. I hope you’ll welcome it with open arms & possibly a Monte Carlo?
To celebrate the return of MPAY to it’s second home I’m going back to the very beginning with the first ever theme; On The Shelf. (Below is the picture I took for this theme almost exactly TWO YEARS AGO…!)
To play along, show us something that’s “On The Shelf” & leave your link below. Eaaaaaaaaaaasy.
And, for playing, because it’s Blogtoberfest & this is a celebration, you could win something. This something;
A very naughty knitting book called Naughty Needles. This is not a knitting book for your Gran. Or maybe it is, I don’t know. Even if you’re not a knitter, it’s fun to look through. Just ask me, a not-knitter with many years experience in not-knitting, who has had this book a while now & enjoyed looking at it & imagining what it would be like if a) I COULD knit & b) I had the figure to pull off a knitted bikini.
If you play, please also leave a comment with your theme suggestions for the weeks to come, the theme should be a common place or perspective we all have like “The bottom drawer”, “What I love”, “Where I escape to”, that sort of thing. This meme was always meant to be something that anybody could join in with, so a theme like “My car” would automatically rule some people out; it would have ruled me out not that long ago! I’ll make a big list & ask for more suggestions when I’m running low, I will of course give you credit for your doubtlessly wonderful theme idea. Also, please take the time to visit some of the other players; that’s what this meme is all about, visiting, hanging out, having a bit of a sticky beak behind the scenes in each others lives.
- My Place & Yours starts on Saturday but you can join in any day throughout the week.
- Link back here somewhere in your MPAY post so that people know where to come to join in – the more the merrier!
- To play, take a photo or a bunch of photos of or relating to the theme & leave the link to your post in the list below. The photos can be as fancy pants & stylised as you like, or they can be quick & dirty via an instagram pic – whatever you like. If you would like to write a little something, a lot of something or nothing at all, that’s cool with me.
- Giveaway winner will be announced next Saturday with next week’s theme.
Phew. Apologies if that’s a whole lot to digest early on a Saturday morning, I’ll do my own post sometime during the week; I’m trying to tidy up decide on a shelf…
Poor MPAY being shifted around like that! I look forward to playing along with someone else's theme's : )
ReplyDeleteYAY VIC! It's been ages since I played this old favourite, thanks for hosting..
ReplyDeleteYay, so glad I saw this post today, it's a great way to get back on the regular blogging horse. A theme idea for the future - "the little details", being the little bits and pieces around your home that make you smile as you go about your regular day. This is something that I have been meaning to blog about for about a year now, but never got around to it.
ReplyDeleteYAH, i'm up for a new game. Will defo join in!
ReplyDeleteAnd will try to think up a theme or two.
hey can I get away with "on the mantle " as my on the shelf. NO worries if not.
xo
What a great meme idea. Am thinking of future themes....
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing My Place and Yours back. If I think of a theme I will let you know.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! A good reason to tidy up a bit too I think. Grin.
ReplyDeleteOh and I would like to suggest 'in my pocket' as a theme i.e. the bits and pieces you find in your hoodie or cardy pocket. Well any pocket for that matter. I sometimes find lost treasures or irritating reminders scribbled on bits and pieces of paper such as 'pay your phone bill NOW'.
I love this meme Vic - great to see it back! My vote for future themes ~ in my fridge today, my pincushion, my fabric stash!
ReplyDeleteYAY! I'm so glad it's back! Oh I love this meme, what fun. Can't wait to see what themes we get this time around. I love pocket, fridge, coffee table, inspiration board. How exciting. I hope you are having a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteSophie x
What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteUmm as for other options for the coming weeks how about- 'On the list/wishlist', 'In the garden', 'In the oven/On the stove'.
Best get taking a few pics. x
I can't believe it is so long since I pestered you for help so that I could join in on your memes....probably why you passed it on in the first place...lol... Anyway, I will try to get back with 'my shelf' through the week, but look forward to future memes :) Happy crafting, Jenny :)
ReplyDeleteYay - so glad that you have it back. Humm - maybe holidays, where we live, in the garden, the front door, in my handbag, on the keyring. I will just go back and hide in my little shell now:) But yay - so glad that this has made its way back to you and you are happy:)
ReplyDeleteI second Rhiannon on The Little Details for a future theme because I've also been meaning to write a post like that.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Hope mine is not too long winded...
ReplyDeleteSarah xxx
