We are going the “Baby Led Solids” route with Suspence in regard to weaning; we did the same with Punk & she was a fabulous eater until she hit about two & a half & refused to try anything new. She’s just recently started having the smallest tastes of new foods though which is good.
BLS is where you do away with the mush & give bub manageable pieces of proper food to munch on, squish & throw.
It’s messy. Very messy. But it’s also so much easier than chopping, steaming & mashing, more interesting for the child & helpful in developing their fine motor skills; grape tomato halves can be slippery little suckers.
At not quite seven months, our boy has toast for breakfast, a whole banana or mandarin for snacks, grapes, tomato, avocado, apple pieces, sandwiches, pasta… whatever everybody else is eating he not only tries, but demolishes…
…all that & only two teeth!
We did that too, with a bit of mashed stuff thrown into the mix. Fun and games!!
ReplyDeletewe did that too with our kids. Well our youngest too. I didn't know any better with my first and did the whole puree thing. Our mini daschund loves the BLW thing as he gets everything that is thrown from the highchair.
ReplyDeleteSame here, our little ones loved that. And still, they are very adventurous and tasteful eaters. I loved this time, watching the reactions on their little faces when they taste something new. Priceless!
ReplyDeleteOh those snaps are precious, Vic. Why didn't I know about this? I did the "cook and mash" for 3 kids!
ReplyDeleteMind you. that was messy enough lol.
We're also doing BLW with Ed (and did with Lillian too.) So fun! But yes, very messy.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are soooo cute!
ReplyDeleteLooks like he is having so much fun!x
How gorgeous is he .... and those pics - love them. Its worth the mess for that gorgeous face!!
ReplyDeleteOh my god, these photo are to die for! Look at that cheeky grin! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Vic. You have a super sweet blog! Those photos are just too cute! Thanks for your comment, sorry my reply is late. I don't remember if there was lift access to the Emerald Peacock, but there was a very cool place called Cookies just around the corner with different bars of different floors, and I do remember there being a lift. You might have to call them to confirm you can use the lift in the evening though, their website is: http://www.cookie.net.au/ I hope this helps! Sam xox
ReplyDeleteBoys have hollow legs!! And we survived the mess because of our dog, who gained a few kilos when our boy was discovering solids.
ReplyDeleteLove the shots Vic and we did this with our two too and they are both great eaters. He looks like he is really enjoying it:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy buba:) I love looking back at photos of the girls making a mess with their food, these photos are priceless. xo
ReplyDeleteAll this chopping and simmering and mashing is doing my head in. But I find it easier at this stage knowing there's frozen meal portions for Amy ready to go, rather than trying to keep enough proper food in the house for yet another person. Plus if I sit down spooning food into her mouth I can see just how much she's actually eating, and as she's 5th percentile I need to reassure myself that sustenance is actually being consumed! I was hoping to have a roly poly chubby baby this time, but no.
ReplyDeletelove that second photo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful boy!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's always going to be mess... that's my experience anyway. That is one of my favourite things about summer. Stripping kids down and throwing them outside for mealtimes and then when it is all done hosing them and the table off!!!
OH man! he is such a handsome boy! The last photo...you just can't help but smile!
ReplyDeleteSo incredibly cute. Isn't this such an awesome age? Much the same at our place. It's lovely to see a little one lovin' their tucker!!
