Surely I’m not the only one…? Now I’m not saying that sailing about solo for 7 months in dangerous seas at 16 is not an achievement, nor am I saying I wish she hadn’t succeeded, but what I am saying is I could really care less & I am sick of seeing the bloody pink boat everywhere & hearing her name & hearing other people’s views on her & yadda yadda yadda yadda… Is it too much to ask for real news now? (Thank the Gods for SBS…)

  1. haha! Love it! I havn't watched the news in my place since "the" Septemer 11 for this VERY reason, I was however subjected to everyone's varying opinions in the office about this little doozey though. 'snore'. almost makes you wish for a natural disaster to make them change the subject. (Yeah, I am v bad i know) xB

  2. I'm with you on this one. What are a 16yo's parents thinking, letting their kid do such a dangerous thing?

  3. We don't watch news here either - hard to avoid hearing about this though. I think "good on her" for setting out to achieve her goal but I hope, for her sake, that her life doesn't change so much because of it that she regrets having set out in the first place. I feel sorry for her in a way, because the media is just running with this in a really full-on way! But I hear ya! And I concur :)

  5. Just yesterday I was listening live (via internet its my little way of feeling like I am still an Aussie) to 612 ABC and she was talking about exactly the same thing. It was interesting to hear what the callers had to say.

I do feel that the media is over exposing it. I don't feel the parents were negligent as I am sure they would not have allowed her to undertake this adventure without a lot of serious thought. I do hope that she inspires young people to follow their dreams.

  7. Well, I haven't heard much about this myself but, that's just 'cause I am pretty oblivious when it comes to "Hot Topics". I am ever behind all the latest. Ah well, hope they shut up about it soon for your sake.
