Frock Up Friday.

To my mind, there are two types of women in the world; those who wear dresses regularly & those who don’t. I, in case you couldn’t guess, am in the later group, but it does a gal good to frock up occasionally, especially if, like me, she has been feeling particularly frumpy & hideous. As of this morning’s unfortunate date with the bathroom scales, I am about 5 kilos heavier than I have ever been in my life (not pregnant) & I do not like it.

I feel a bit hopeless about my weight at the moment; I take the sausages for a 30-40 minute brisk walk everyday, I don’t eat excessively or anything particularly bad (as I have in the past), I have replaced one meal a day with a green smoothie (not for weight reasons, but I thought it might have made some sort of difference…) & I keep staying exactly the same on those damn bathroom scales.

I think there must be something up with my metabolism – even when I was first away from home with a meagre food budget (think one meal a day, think pot noodles for that one meal) I never neared “thin”. I actually fainted in my room from lack of food but you’d never know it to look at me. I don’t want to be thin; I’ve given up on that long-held dream, right now I’d settle for just fitting comfortably in my pre-Suspence clothes, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, which makes me, well…. sad. Sad & Frumpy with a capital ‘F’. But today, I’m embracing another word that starts with f: Frock.

Yeah I’m still a heffalump with unsightly bumps & lumps, but I’m a heffalump in a dress. The sun is shining & as far as I know, I’m healthy, so I’m going to avoid mirrors & enjoy the feeling of being a girl today. I need it.

  2. I think you are another 'f'...Fabulous! Those boots and that dress rock! So too does the puppy dog! Dont let the scales drag you down - bin them instead. It's soooo hard to focus on anything but that number unless you completely get rid of it and think more about how you actually feel. x

  8. I would never call myself slender aan I wear dresses every day in Summer, and lots in Winter too just like you with leggings and boots.

I think you look fabulous and the dress is great and I bet you feel better by frocking up whihc means: BUY MORE FROCKS!! I never wore dresses until I found a style that suited me ( gathered in some way under the bust be it a seam or whatever and then A- line - not unlike what you are wearing and honestly they cover a multitude of sins! xx

  10. Throw the scales away they were only invented to make people depressed I'm sure. You look great in the dress and those boots are amazing. It must definitely be Frock up Friday cause I am a jeans only person usually but today it is Tunic, leggings and boots and all I'm going to do is prune the roses!

  15. I think you look fab! Bugger weight, I put 30 kilos on a couple of years ago and despite thyroid meds, healthy eating exercise etc I can't seem to lose a kilo! So I know how it feels.

  16. You know, Frock up Friday sounds like a fabulous idea, I may just join in next week!
As for the other issue, if you're still feeding Suspence then don't bother trying, the disturbed sleep and different hormones make it darn near impossible to shift it. I had to wait until a year after I stopped feeding my youngest before anything would depart. Hang in there and frock up all you can!

  17. Hey I think you look great and have fab style. reading your post though sounded kind of familiar and reminded me of how my thyroid packed it in after my 2nd pregnancy. It's a little known side effect of pregnancy and two of my friends same thing happened. So maybe get that checked out :)!

  18. A bunch of my weight from both kids vanished mysteriously when Amy was 8-9 months. Just because the weight hasn't shifted yet doesn't mean it never will.

I felt like a complete frump before the weight disappeared. I haven't read the comments here but I'm sure they're all of the "You look and are fab!" variety, and rightly so because you do and are. But I thoroughly understand how you're feeling and hope you manage to shift a bit of weight soon.

  19. I never seem to fit into clothes that were just fine on me before the last baby I had. It's a given that your body will never quite be the same, I reckon. All the more reason to get to know your new self and frock it up accordingly!! Love it! I think you look marvelous, lovely. Really. xx

  20. That is the best outfit EVER. I did not need sausage dog distractions, but I do appreciate them because they are bloody cute.

  21. I think my fat bum looks better in a skirt, so I actually bought a pattern today and am going to make one that fits me! And lose the weight somehow. And then I'll whinge about having to take the skirt in... but that will be ok. You do look incredibly cool though. Hooray for the frock!
