Saving Daylight.

suspenceJordypunkandmumpuppiesskyDixpunkandspencefeetwalkies

It was a lovely day yesterday for the first day of Daylight Savings so we spent a large chunk of it outside getting dirty; I can’t believe I used to hate (HATE, HATE, HATE) Daylight Savings!

Our free not-so-crappy portrait.

When I saw Katie & Reuben’s Free Crappy Portrait a while back, I KNEW we needed one too, but me being me, I thought “I’ll email them later”, then promptly forgot all about it. Finally I did email them though, & I’m so glad. Look!

Not at all crappy, in my opinion, and terribly flattering for Mr & I. He doesn’t look like a hobo & I look like a trophy wife who can knit! Nice. My favourite part is Suspence with a mouth full of dirt & the sausages in hotdog buns…

This is what I sent them;

“I have sent through a few pictures as it seems impossible for everyone to get into a photo together at any given time. We are a little family of four with a cat & two dachshunds that we refer to as "The Sausages". We live in a teeny tiny house with nothing but vegetables growing in the yard. I like to make things, draw & blog. My 3yo daughter likes to pretend to read, the man of the house, surprisingly, likes to grow nothing but vegetables in our yard & the baby has just learnt to stand up, so, after eating, that's pretty much his favourite thing. I am currently obsessed with the colour mustard & crochet blankets. My 30th birthday is imminent.”

Picnik collage

I totally forgot a picture of Morgan which is why he’s white – we shall pretend he’s been rolling in flour.

Don’t pretend like you don’t need a Free Crappy Portrait too. You SO do.

We’re going to have this one printed & framed, it’s that not-so-crappy.

A Day Out.

family

Mr is working on my Birthday so I guilted him into taking us all out to lunch when he finished his short day today.

sky

I must have found my licence to blog in a cereal packet because I was too interested in EATING my lunch rather than taking a photo of it, I know.

spence

I disgust me too.

suspence

I really don’t want my birthday to come, & not because I’m moving into a whole new age bracket, but because I’ve been milking it for months & I’m going to be a bit lost without the whiny excuse “…but it’s my BIRTHDAY…!”.

yikes

I guess Christmas isn’t that far away.

Boofhead.

Today, after a bit of a late-night facebook chat with one of my little brothers, I’m grateful that we can indeed still chat after being apart for so long.

There are 11 years between myself & by biggest little bro, he used to annoy me when I was being all angsty in my bedroom listening to Korn & I used to babysit him & my other two siblings what seemed like all the time.

dandy

I think the fact that there is such a large age gap between us makes for a good sibling relationship – we’ve never fought about anything – a teenager fighting with a four year old wouldn’t have been a good look – and we’ve just always got along, despite seeming to come from different planets; he’s a tall popular football star & I was… well… Daria. Since I moved out of home at 16 though, then to a different town, then to a town further away, then further, then further, then even further… we don’t get to hang out very often.

dandynpunk

I’m grateful that he fell into his role as an Uncle so easily (so did my other little bro, in case he’s reading this; you know I luff ya, now be CAREFUL ON THAT BLOODY MOTORBIKE!) – Punk adored him almost instantly last time he was down, I just hope that we get to see more of him in the future than we have in the last few years.

Miss ya Boof. xx

More grateful posts with judgey (hehe) Maxabella.

Happy Birthday Little Brother!

Yup! I remembered! Not early enough to buy or send a present mind you (...or your Chrissie present for that matter...), but earlier than usual... and I made you a picture... like a preschool child would.... are you impressed...?! You're SO impressed. I can tell.

Have a great day Flukey!

Faking It.

Do you ever fake it? On your blog, I mean?

I tried to, last night, but it just wasn't working out. Anybody stumbling upon my blog last night around 10.30 pm would have witnessed a mysterious disappearing, re-appearing post - this post in fact, as I tried to show my Mum how EASY it is to post a picture mosaic of her flickr photos, or a slide show of them, or @#$%^& SOMETHING, but not being much of a flickr user, and because, no doubt, I am trying to convince Mother Dear to start a photoblog, nothing, I repeat, nothing, would work right. I also tried to get it to post this morning, but it was having none of that either. I guess I'm just not cut out for cheating.... I'm too lazy & it seems to require so much effort...!

But do you do it? I am curious to know! One blogger I follow is currently away on a holiday where she is computer & Internet free - yet she is still blogging away happily! I'm jealous. Both of her holiday & her obviously superior technical prowess.

So... as you may have gathered; My Mummy is here!!

She drove 20 hours to get here.... 20 HOURS!!! Is that insane or what?!

We're lucky ducks though.... she brought us cool opshopped goodies (did I ever mention I come from a long line of opshoppers?!); she also brought a brother & a sister... but mostly good stuff... ;)

Anywho, now that she is here I am allowed to steal... uh... showcase some of her purty photos! (and after 15 infuriating minutes I finally managed to post some sort of slideshow in here that WORKED and wasn't just some obviously incorrect html) Hurrah!

Created with flickr slideshow.

These are some photos I picked out of her photostream, probably not a thorough representation of what she photographs, just me trying to be arty & edgy- she lives in the country, like even more country than here - some might call it "the bush" even... lots of pictures of cattle... football... flowers.... even a little Punk from last visit... (she was so teeny!)

So it's what... Day 6 of Blogtoberfest? I'm starting to feel it! With inflatable air beds, sleeping bags & drowsy family members in my lounge room, I feel like I should be doing something else (hence my poor attempt at posting today, yesterday...).
