Bike bike baby.

I have decided what I want for my birthday (it’s best to get in early).

A new bike.

I just have to decide what sort of bikeoh the possibilities (Within reason, I hear my darling mumbling)!

Those of you that have been here for ages & ages & ages will recall that I used to ride everywhere, all the time, but then I got my licence, a preggers belly, a new baby & my bike got neglected to such a point that I think it is almost unsalvageable (think flat, think broken, think rusty, also think even if it were salvageable… I want a new bike).

Suspence will be big enough soon to go in the bike in the seat that Punky used to love so much & I miss just jumping on the bike to go get milk or bread, so a-drooling over bikey things I shall be until it’s time to choose in earnest.

A very spunky young lass that I used to work with in Bondi has a biking blog over here with a friend of hers. It’s called Feather Brigade – check it out for all sorts of cute bike related things, including what they get up to on the city streets with their glam wheels. I was just perusing when I saw a link to CycleStyle…. if you have a bike peeps, take your credit card out of the freezer before you click over to take a look, anything & everything you could ever want for your bike is there, including heaps of things you never knew you needed (but you so do).

On your bike.

So, being a public holiday, I will not have any more news today about the house, or “The Cottage” as I have come to think of her, but that shall not stop me from worrying, hoping & planning the entire interior decor.

One thing I would really like to have in my little home, when we can finally “bang a nail in” wherever & whenever we like, is an abundance of beautiful art. I am drawn to illustrations & drawings mostly, maybe because that is what I do…? I don’t know, but I feel a deeper, quicker connection to drawings that I like than I do with paintings that I like, or even photographs, so I’ve been looking for lovely drawings lately that I can frame & admire.

I already have one lovely print ready to go – I am yet to find the right frame, but how I love this picture! I was lucky enough to win it, but I’ve only gone & forgotten where… it’s from here.

Isn’t he great? “Murray the Moose”. Brilliant.

I was thinking maybe some more bicycle themed art to go with him….? What do you think of this lot….?

il_430xN_89824389

“Stork Legs on a Penny Farthing”

“The Trick Rider” – not a drawing obviously, but pretty damn cool me thinks!

“1982 Schwinn Sting”

“Life is like riding a bicycle”

I actually have the remains of a bike veeeeeeeeery similar to that last one in the back yard at the moment – I fell in love when I saw it – shiny red with cool handles & white wall tires… too bad it was incredibly impractical to ride (make that ‘impossible’). I stole the seat for my current ride & plan on making one of the tires into a massive clock…

Camping!

We just got back.

I am SO TIRED. Like the old 'I've been out all night partying' kind of tired, but without the being out all night & partying. My brain feels as though it'll take about five minutes to warm up before it will be able to consider anything at all. Do you know that feeling....?! Where you have to think about thinking....?! It's odd & not at all fun. Camping WAS fun though, really, I just had issues with "sleeping" on an uncomfortable air mattress with bugs eating my head.

It was a very quick trip, obviously. We got to the site about 6 or 6.30, I was cursing myself on the way out for not taking something to do, like hand sewing or even a sketch book, thinking I'd be bored & have nothing to do - but I need not have worried. By the time we'd set the tent up (my very first attempt at said activity, The Boy's first at that sort of tent, it was a true team effort & I am proud as punch that we managed to get it done with not even a hint of bickering...!), pumped up the air mattresses (thinking, incorrectly, that they would be more comfortable than sleeping on hard, rocky ground...), started a fire & cooked dinner, with flaming marshmallows for afters, it was quarter to eleven.

I was up at 5.30am, not because I wanted to savour the early morning quiet or get the fire started for breakfast, but because I NEEDED a coffee like I had never needed a coffee before. I got that fire started (with the assistance of copious amounts of firelighters) so quick you'd have thought the flash had been by with his boy scout skills.

Punk had a grand time, hooning around on her bicycle with greatly improved balancing maneuvers & wondering at the birds in the trees.

We shall be going again, but next time, for more than one night. We seem to have spent more time setting up & packing up than anything else!

Undecided....

I have been thinking about doing away with this blog already. Would that be some sort of record I wonder? It just seems so insignificant & dare I say it, self indulgent, in light of the terrible tragedies that seem to just keep happening.

As of this evening I am undecided. I have enjoyed the brief time I have been blogging & know that if I stop I won't start again, ever.

It doesn't help that I've still made bugger all... plenty of ideas but still no motivation... unless...

In lu of Crafty Mamas which is down at the moment I stopped by Craftster today & saw the Feb challenge, "Craft your favourite song". I immediately had a couple of ideas & if I can get myself motivated it will be my first Craftster challenge.

So what have I been doing if not cutting, pinning, sewing? Shopping, actually. I've put a bicycle on lay by & yesterday bought a bike trailer from eBay for towing Miss Punk grandly around town like royalty. I'm madly looking forward to getting both of them, unfortunately though, I keep putting off going down the street now... I think to myself "...oh it would be so much easier with the bike...!" - Right, that's true, but I don't actually have it yet, do I?

Here is a picture of the cool contraption;

Nice, no?
