Chickens, Eggs & A Free Light box...!

Punky has been SO good with helping to collect the eggs lately, she is super careful & carries one all the way from the coop to the egg carton on the kitchen bench...

I "made" a light box yesterday...! Okay, not so much made, as discovered a ready made one, in my craft corner, filled with fabric... my scrap bin! I'd been using an old Styrofoam container that my uncle dropped off here a while ago, The Boy was going to use it to plant things in but I claimed it first.

Yesterday I was looking at 'how-to' tutes for making your own light box & came away thinking about what I'd need to get to make one, then I went out to the craft area & sat down, considering what to do next, when I looked down & tada!!

One second & an overturned pile of scrap material later... a light box! :D All I really need now is a brighter bulb for my lamp.

I took a couple of random shots to see how it works, and I am quite pleased with the results...!

Next time I try it out I might put some plain copy paper on the bottom too, although I quite like the textured look of the Styrofoam under the objects...

First Post for the Crafty Mamas Group Blog

The title says it all really!

Just posted my first post over at the CM Group blog... I hope the other Mamas like it! Still being so new to this sort of thing I'm not terribly confident about what it is I should actually be blogging ABOUT lmao.

Meanwhile, in the Punky household, all is well for a quiet Saturday night. The weather was almost nice today.. I say almost because although the sun was out there was an evil cold wind gusting about.

As I type I am half watching the original version of King Kong on the telly, and oh how great that old stop motion animation is! It reminds me of one of my favourite movies from my childhood... Clash of the Titans. The story of Perseus & his battle with Medusa. God I loved that movie. I think I almost wore out the VHS tape from watching & rewinding... VHS tapes... remember those...?! ;)

Clash of the Titans was great for many reasons, not least of which was;







Perseus! (Unfortunately the actor, Harry Hamlin, never went on to much more success, unless you count a marriage to Nicollette Sheridan before desperate housewives fame as an achievement)

I also loved Bubo, the mechanical owl.

I actually have this on DVD, now that I think about it, but I very rarely watch DVDs these days, I might have to break it out again soon. I'd love Punky to grow up with it too, it's such a fun movie, but I wonder what she'd think of it, when she's old enough to watch, when it's compared to movies with stunning visual & computer generated effects?

Craftster Excitement....!

Right, so now you are going to know what a nerdy crafter I am... I am BESIDE MYSELF with excitement because my gnomies (see post below; Gnomes, Gnomes, Gnomes!) are on the front page of Craftster right now!!!!!

Yesterday I was so happy because they were in the "Hot New Projects" box in the "More Art, Less Craft" section, & just now I went to see if there were any new comments & saw them there, gnoming it up, on the front page!!! I'll try to despence with the over enthusiastic use of exclamation marks, but that is going to be hard...

I'll just stop now, that will fix it. :D

Fixing the search function in Wooden Fence Theme for Blogger

This is just a quickie for anyone who is using this template (originally a wordpress theme which has been converted for blogger), or would like to use this template, and doesn't know why the search function takes them up, up & away, instead of, you know, searching your blog.
It is a really simple edit, but I didn't know that last night! After trying for an embarrisingly long time to insert complex code here & there (I am a complete & utter coding dunce), I finally stumbled on the easiest fix ever... then wanted to pummel my head against my desk for not working it out sooner.

So, without further ado....!

Go to "Layout" > "Edit HTML"

You need to find the following piece of code, the easiest way to do this is by pressing "Ctrl+F" this will bring up a search or find box at the top of your browser window. Type in 'search' & you will see that it comes up with around 10 instances in your code where 'search' is written. Click 'Next' until you come to this code;

to your blog's search, ie: 'http://YOURBLOGHERE.blogspot.com/search', Click 'Save' & your done! :D

The other thing you might want to sort out with this theme is how it displays the time above your post & not the date. Go to "Settings"> "Formatting" & change the TIME display to the long date format. Voila!

Tomorrow Is A Good Day For Cleaning....

....but in this house I'm afraid, tomorrow never comes.

This is my craft area. It doesn't look very, uh, inspiring, does it? The bottom benches belong to the Punk, she crawls in & out, drags her toys under there, "reads" books, while I'm sewing or painting or gluing or cutting. When it's a bit tidier out there (on the top, the floor is never very tidy, the toy boxes are out there, their contents permanently strewn), it's a really pleasant place to work & play.

*Sigh* I guess tomorrow has got to come early.
