Craftster Excitement....!

Right, so now you are going to know what a nerdy crafter I am... I am BESIDE MYSELF with excitement because my gnomies (see post below; Gnomes, Gnomes, Gnomes!) are on the front page of Craftster right now!!!!!

Yesterday I was so happy because they were in the "Hot New Projects" box in the "More Art, Less Craft" section, & just now I went to see if there were any new comments & saw them there, gnoming it up, on the front page!!! I'll try to despence with the over enthusiastic use of exclamation marks, but that is going to be hard...

I'll just stop now, that will fix it. :D

Fixing the search function in Wooden Fence Theme for Blogger

This is just a quickie for anyone who is using this template (originally a wordpress theme which has been converted for blogger), or would like to use this template, and doesn't know why the search function takes them up, up & away, instead of, you know, searching your blog.
It is a really simple edit, but I didn't know that last night! After trying for an embarrisingly long time to insert complex code here & there (I am a complete & utter coding dunce), I finally stumbled on the easiest fix ever... then wanted to pummel my head against my desk for not working it out sooner.

So, without further ado....!

Go to "Layout" > "Edit HTML"

You need to find the following piece of code, the easiest way to do this is by pressing "Ctrl+F" this will bring up a search or find box at the top of your browser window. Type in 'search' & you will see that it comes up with around 10 instances in your code where 'search' is written. Click 'Next' until you come to this code;

<!-- Search -->

<div id='mainsearch'>

<form action='http://demo.templatelite.com/?q=Search' id='mainsearchform' method='get'>

<input class='input' id='s' name='q' onfocus='doClear(this)' type='text' value='Search ...'/>

<input class='submit' type='submit' value=''/>

</form>

Change this bit;

<!-- Search -->

<div id='mainsearch'>

<form action='http://demo.templatelite.com/?q=Search' id='mainsearchform' method='get'>

<input class='input' id='s' name='q' onfocus='doClear(this)' type='text' value='Search ...'/>

<input class='submit' type='submit' value=''/>
</form>

to your blog's search, ie: 'http://YOURBLOGHERE.blogspot.com/search', Click 'Save' & your done! :D

The other thing you might want to sort out with this theme is how it displays the time above your post & not the date. Go to "Settings"> "Formatting" & change the TIME display to the long date format. Voila!

Hope this has been of some help to other coding noobs! ;)

Procrastinating...

...it's what I do. That's just as well, you know, that I DO SOMETHING, because I most certainly don not clean.

More painting instead!!

Aaargh!! Monsters!! Mixed media on canvas board.

The owl(s) below are works in progress....

Tomorrow Is A Good Day For Cleaning....

....but in this house I'm afraid, tomorrow never comes.

This is my craft area. It doesn't look very, uh, inspiring, does it? The bottom benches belong to the Punk, she crawls in & out, drags her toys under there, "reads" books, while I'm sewing or painting or gluing or cutting. When it's a bit tidier out there (on the top, the floor is never very tidy, the toy boxes are out there, their contents permanently strewn), it's a really pleasant place to work & play.

*Sigh* I guess tomorrow has got to come early.

Gnomes, Gnomes, Gnomes!!

I woke up this morning & decided I was going to paint.
Instead, I went shopping.
I had to go grocery shopping (yuck), but before that I got to go op shopping (yay). I am, officially, a greedy op shopper. Something happens to me when I enter one of these dens of musty, eccentric, second hand goodness, my heartbeat quickens, my eyes dart furtively about & I will every other shopper out of the store. I don't like lots of people around when I'm op shopping. Other stores, sure, no problem, the more the merrier, but op shopping is an entirely different story. There is a finite number of precious things for the finding in any given op shop & I want to be the one to find them. In a "regular" store, if you see someone trudging by with something you just have to have, you can generally be assured that there is more to be had, but not in an oppy. Unfortunately my Jedi mind skills are sorely lacking & everyone just keeps on shopping, no matter how much I wish otherwise, so I have to get stuck straight in to the business at hand; fossicking. I zone out - I don't look up from whichever rack, shelf or basket I am perusing, for fear of seeing someone picking up some grand vintage find that would ignite insane jealousy.... what I don't know, can't hurt me.

Today, I had a great score..... Gnomes!!

If you're getting old, like me ;) You may remember these books, first published in the mid 80s, then the 90s. There are heaps of them, perhaps someone could enlighten me to just how many exactly, but today I had the good fortune to find the "Around The World with the Gnomes" set. I already had a couple of odd ones at home but couldn't remember which, so I just bought them all, at the hefty price of 10 cents each.

Finding these today reminded me about some paintings I finished a few weeks ago, a Gnome triptych, they've just been sitting out in my craft area, gathering dust. I thought I'd dig them out & show them some love, since I don't rightly know at the moment exactly what it is I'm going to do with them.

They are mixed media (acrylic, water colour pencil & permanent ink) on stretched canvas.

Tiring Tuesday.

I am tired & my back is sore & although I've got a fair bit done today in the cooking & crafting stakes, I'm too tired to even think about finding my camera, taking photos, plugging the camera in to the computer, uploading the photos & yadda yadda yadda.

Instead I've been vegging out in front of the computer while Punky & her Daddy contemplate ice cream in front of the heater.

I am desperately awaiting two Japanese felt food pattern books at the moment, I've put a cute little wooden kitchen away for Punky's birthday & intend to make a lot of yummy things for it between now & early next year, but in the meantime I have found some delicious food inspired delights on Etsy;
