A Quick Ornament.

This is the little ornament I made for our Brown Owls Kris Kringle on Wednesday, it’s just a teeny embroidery using the smallest embroidery loop with some thread tied around the screw to hang it; quick, easy & effective. You know that’s how I like it.

Back tomorrow to share some more Christmas goodness around here for the last day of the My Place & Yours Christmas Party! You’ve still time to join in if you’d like!

My Creative Space.

One great thing about heading off to the Brown Owls every fortnight, apart from hanging out with some super lovely crafty chickies, is that I will have something to share at least every two weeks for My Creative Space.

Not long after I posted about my troubles deciding on what to make for Softies for Mirabel, the solution came to me as if by magic.

dollbed

I saw my gran down the street on Tuesday after she’d just left the opshop, she had a doll bed for Punk (that I had to buy off her for $2.50!) that I didn’t particularly want, it had pink & lace & if Punk never got another toy again for the rest of her life she would still have too many, but I felt obliged. I threw it in the back of the car without a second thought until it crossed my mind yesterday & a light bulb went off. Consider the above photo as the official “Before”.

So last night I start embroidering two faces for one doll. I bet someone can guess who I’m making…?

Babybot.

The most I achieved with my spring swap project today was photographing it this morning – but I DID get something done today!

My Mum sent me some opped baby clothes last week, including a plain white jumpsuit, since The Boy was coming with us today, & driving, almost as an afterthought I grabbed the little suit & some embroidery stuff as we were heading out the door – it is amazing what you think of when you feel obliged to make something, when you are actually making ‘making’ a priority.

I am under no illusions as to the quality of my embroidery, or even the design itself as I just stitched freehand & hoped for the best, but I think the wee robot turned out cute enough, and with babies, well, cute is all that matters.

Go. Vote.

It’s RED. It’s CUTE. It’s made by CATH.

Well surely you don’t need anymore convincing..?

Go vote for this stunning piece of stitchery over here in the Feeling Stitchy Rainbow of Stitches comp – and peruse some more damn fine embroidery work while you’re at it.

Good Luck Cath! Red RULES.

That is all.

Lots of Green... A Lucky Day?

I only realised after I'd uploaded these pics that green is quite prominent in all of them... I'm hoping that's a good sign... if only I could afford to buy a lottery ticket!

First of all, this is my very first, still brand spanking new, ever so lovely, wooden desk easel. Isn't it purty...?!

Next up is a top I found in "The Great Craft Area Clean Up" of '09. It's actually a boy's top I got on clearance, green tops for girls aren't all that easy to find in shops around here, it's all about the pink & the frills generally, but I thought this was a lovely green that the Punk would look cute in. I embroidered the mermaid a little while ago, after a trip to The Stitches & Craft Show in Melbourne, and obviously, promptly, forgot about it. It still has the fabric marker where I drew the design on! I'm hoping it stays sunny (but I have grave doubts) so that I can get this washed & dried & on Punky asap.

And lastly, two lovely op shop finds, featuring lucky green again. I was super excited to find these guys, both now hanging out in my craft area.

A Cute big sprite & Patty O'Green (complete with hot air balloon & wee little sprite!) from Rainbow Brite.... aaaaaaahhhhhh.... lovely.....
