I *heart* eBay.

These photos were taken the night before we went to this market;

gizmo1gizmo2

At the market, we lost that Gizmo. Our first EVER favourite toy tragedy, which, you’re about to see, I couldn’t deal with.

This photo was taken five minutes ago;

Not one, but TWO Gizmos! I love you eBay.

(PS; The only new thing I have bought since the 26th of December is a bike lock for Punk’s bike, I didn’t think a second-hand bike lock would be a wise choice. I am terribly proud of passing up the new helmet & fairy accessory pack that was on clearance next to the bike locks – if it weren’t for this challenge, I wouldn’t have thought twice. The thrift gods have granted my requests for laundry hampers, a soup pot & a new broom; I’m CRUISING!)

More Birthday.

beach2

It was such a good day yesterday; even Mother Nature decided to show off for Spence’s birthday, which is appreciated. After presents, lunch & cake, we decided to head down to the beach for the afternoon where I discovered, upon trudging up a bunch of steps from the sand, I am even more unfit than I thought I was.

beach3

Thanks for all the Happy Birthday wishes – I still don’t want to believe my wee man is one already, that must have been the fastest year in history. Thanks also for the comments about the cake; I know you’re just being nice, but I appreciate it. It was such an ordeal; I really, really, really, really don’t like making birthday cakes.

I don’t like baking very much in the first place, but pair that with trying to ice the damn thing & make it look halfway presentable – just so that it can be demolished in a matter of moments – it is not at all my idea of a good time.

Halfway through the process I said to Mr that it’s just as well I don’t go the Women’s Weekly cake route; there would be tears from everyone involved. As it is I kind of just make it up as I go along – ditching the dodgey pieces of cake & using icing as a kind of fix all super-glue. I’ve already asked Punk what sort of cake she wants for her birthday & she said “pink”. I’m pretty sure THAT, I can do.

On The Shelf.

It’s about time I joined in with my own meme! This is what’s “on the shelf” in Suspence’s room.

shelves1

…and this was what was going on while I was focused on the shelves…

climbing

We have a climber. First it was the couch, then “my” slightly taller armchair, then Punk’s bed, then our bed & now his chair & cupboard… he’s a squishy little parcel of mischief, this one.

I digress.

redbot

Apart from all the space robot goodness, I  love the shelves in Spence’s room because they are up HIGH.

blocks

They are tidy ALL THE TIME. I’m enjoying that while it lasts.

fuzzybots

I bet he won’t even like robots when he’s bigger. I’ll keep them. It’s all good.

greenbot

We’re playing My Place & Yours until Saturday, take a peek (…or a sticky beak)!

A Day Out.

family

Mr is working on my Birthday so I guilted him into taking us all out to lunch when he finished his short day today.

sky

I must have found my licence to blog in a cereal packet because I was too interested in EATING my lunch rather than taking a photo of it, I know.

spence

I disgust me too.

suspence

I really don’t want my birthday to come, & not because I’m moving into a whole new age bracket, but because I’ve been milking it for months & I’m going to be a bit lost without the whiny excuse “…but it’s my BIRTHDAY…!”.

yikes

I guess Christmas isn’t that far away.

Kids on blogs.

pixelkids

I don’t post a huge amount of kiddie photos here, but I am starting to wonder about the ones I do post; as in, should I be posting any at all? This is my blog, & I, as an adult, can post pictures of whatever I like, including myself (whether you like it or not!) in the full knowledge that these posts & these photos, once I hit “publish” will be “out there” in the cavernous space that is the internet for all time, but Punk & Suspence don’t have that choice, they just smile for the camera & I use the pictures here.

pixelbaby

Granted I don’t use them to sell things or exploit them, I use them to share with my bloggy friends what’s going on with us, how my gorgeous offspring are growing, but I am thinking that I shouldn’t, that really, it’s not my choice to make for them; who knows what they’ll think when they’re older & virtually their entire lives have been curated on the internet.

pixeldog

What do you think? “Punky & Me” won’t make much sense without the “Punky” part, eh?

Small things.

kitchen1

Think about your day. Don’t just think about the big things you want to do or have done, think about each little moment that when combined with hundreds of other little moments, makes your day complete.

kitchen4

The little rituals you go through every day. Usually unconsciously. Sometimes consciously.

kitchen2

The things you enjoy in a way that is hard to explain.

kitchen5

The things you enjoy just because they happen & the way that you feel when they happen; content.

kitchen3

Like doing the dishes while your baby boy sits in his highchair beside you, madly mashing plastic cups & utensils together & making an incredible racket – so excited by the sound & the songs about ducks & teddy bears you sing to him that his smile, his sweet innocent energy, is infectious.

4.6.11

Garbage Guts.

bls2

We are going the “Baby Led Solids” route with Suspence in regard to weaning; we did the same with Punk & she was a fabulous eater until she hit about two & a half & refused to try anything new. She’s just recently started having the smallest tastes of new foods though which is good.

bls3

BLS is where you do away with the mush & give bub manageable pieces of proper food to munch on, squish & throw.

bls4

It’s messy. Very messy. But it’s also so much easier than chopping, steaming & mashing, more interesting for the child & helpful in developing their fine motor skills; grape tomato halves can be slippery little suckers.

bls5

At not quite seven months, our boy has toast for breakfast, a whole banana or mandarin for snacks, grapes, tomato, avocado, apple pieces, sandwiches, pasta… whatever everybody else is eating he not only tries, but demolishes…

bls1

…all that & only two teeth!
