I do find somesmall comfort in the thought that one day, she will have a daughter who does this to her room less than 24 hours after it has been meticulously tidied.
I so feel your pain! My kids have done that to all three kids bedrooms this week. I have everything organised within a inch of its life and now they look like a bomb has hit, even the babies room! The two older kids destroyed it too.
Haha! This made me laugh!! Since moving out of home I have begun to appreciate all the things my Mum did for me. Also, love the curtains in Punkys room!
I have given up and decided it is their space and they can do what they want. As long as once a week I can get in and vacuums and they remove the rubbish and etc then I call it a truce...
I prefer to avoid the clash and enjoy the time I have with them because when they are gone the room will permanently be tidy and I would be wishing they were home with a messy room... It has taken me a while to get to this head space!
My little girl is looking at my screen with me. When I opened up your blog and she saw this picture, she immediately said:"That's such a fun room. It's so pretty and has such nice toys in there!"
I guess they just see things differently when they are that age. Now the only question is: Who's right? We? Or they? :-)
This and more will come back to bite her on her cute little tooshie one day. I remember the day I became a parent, I suddenly saw my parents' job in a whole new light and appreciation for the emotional, financial and general grief that parenting puts you through lol.
Ah just wait till the teenage years! My daughter has always been messy ( takes after her mum) but now her room is so dank and revolting I enter at my peril!!!
One day I couldn't open my daughter's door because of the pile of "stuff" behind it. When I finally got it open enough to poke my head in & ask her what the pile was all about, she looked up with the widest blue eyes and without a moment's hesitation, she told me that's her compost pile. Made all the more funny because we were practicing organic farming methods at the time, and I constantly preached "use it up as much as you can, then recycle or compost it." I had to scoot so she wouldn't see me laugh! And now she has a son & daughter of her own, and she has lots of compost piles all over the house!
i work in a children's museum, which is more like a 2 storied warehouse-sized playground for kids. i pick up after kids all day. ALL DAY.
so i say, please please please chalk up some good karma points soon and help your poor momma clean up your room? Maybe singing the Barney clean up song might help a little?
Ohhh - I feel your pain! - and such a cute room too!
